should i buy new protege 5?
I've shopped around and have found myself considering the new protege 5. right now my main concern is price and trying to get a good deal. basically before i make my dealer an offer i was wondering:
How much did everyone get off MSRP?

I paid about $1000 off MSRP, about $400 over invoice before the $750 rebate. I would have tried to get the price lower but the car I bought was the only one in the state with the specs I wanted so I couldn't exactly shop around...

if you are going to make him an offer....START at about $1200 off of the sticker..
if you want to see what the cars are going for in your area...go to
www.edmonds.com and you can get the INVOICE PRICE for the car....and it will also tell you what the average selling price for a p-5 in your area is.....you can still get one cheaper though....well maybe. you never know till you try.

my sticker says 19,200
and i got him to sell it for 17,750
which is about 300 below invoice according to him
but he said he was doing it because i was buying from the internet
ooh and don't forget that there is a $750 rebate... or 2.9 for 5 years financing.

i'd use that pricing thing
get the invoice price it says on there
take out about 3 percent of that
and start there
and then not go over invoice.
maybe 100 over.
it depends how many dealers are in your area too i guess, because then they have to compete if you can just drive across town and get a better price.

if you can afford it the 1150 and 0.0% for 4 years is a better deal... you payments will be bigger i think, but in the end you'll save a 2 grand because you didn't pay the interest and got the 1150 off.
but if the payments at 4 years are too big the 2.9 for 5 years still stands, and still a good deal, i think.

thanks guys been alot of help got some questions tho...
who makes the turbo kit for p5? what's the cost/specs? is there a turbo kit?
what are best mods? hehe by now you can tell i'm pretty driven on making this car fast... this car kind slow but it inexpensive and looks badass, but most important to me i haven't seen many in my area (dallas). gonna see if i can put together a quick NON-honda for my area... hehe
oh yeah and umm... what is 2002.5? when they start makin p5? are there diff years already? i thought just came out this year, sorry guys i hella newbie... converted from a honda-enthusiast so don't know much about mazda...

I have a 2002.5,it's just a mid-year re-fresh. the changes are:
1. 2002.5 have clear side fender lights
2. 2002.5 have leather shift ****
3. have diffrent color gauge faces
4. cup holders are re-designed
5. it comes with tweeters
6. wheels are re-designed
7. you can get leather seats
8. new auto sport shifter
I prefer the 2002.5, but i think you would be happy with either one. Hope this help's.

another concern maybe that the P5 is a magnet for other cars bumping into you while you are parked...
I've had my car for 9months..... been bumped once in the front, got a dent in the front right quarter panel..... bumped in the rear..... scratched in the rear too.
