Unhappy said goodbye to my protege

Well I no longer have my protege.. its gone to someone who won't run it hard or take as good of care of it as I have. But on a better note I've purchased a 2002 Ford SVT Focus from my friend who wanted to keep both his lightning and his focus but when it came down to it.. 450hp was what he wanted. So, my mom bought my 99 protege ES and i now have in my opinion a better car with more of my performance and driving style. I've worked my butt off to pay him the 16 grand he wanted. In my opinion.. i would have paid a lot more. I just wish my pro had this suspension with this engine.. it may have made me happier. I'll still come back and talk about the protege and hang out since i'll drive the pro once in a while since it does have more room for friends. I'm sure someone will make fun of me for buying the foci but i'll let em. It doesn't bother me.. the car is what i wanted not what u wanted. I'm not going to conform to the opinions of some people on this board. Talk to you later!

Hey, congrats on the new car. I personally love the Focus SVT, I think they're great cars. I never got to drive one, but I bet they're a blast! Congrats once again, you definately have my envy

i'm so tempted to ditch the pro for an SVT too but i'd lose too much money on the deal. they're a blast to drive though. have fun.

The engine AND the suspension in a Pro?Then you might as well like a new car.

Thumbs down

The Focus is a better car than the Protege in many, many areas. In fact, it's the top rated small car you can buy. It's quieter, rides MUCH more comfortably, it's roomy inside, handles well, and is faster than the Pro, stock. That's where the fun ends. The thing you'll be sorry about is the consistently miserable reliability demonstrated by this car. In that sense, the Focus, in all of its renditions, has been the worst possible car you can buy. Meanwhile, the Protege is the best you can buy. No joke, you're going to be seeing major problems over and over and over again with the Focus. That's most unfortunate, as it's otherwise an awesome car-- Except for it's looks, which is another area that makes me want to throw up. I've always thought the Focus was butt ugly-- But that's subjective and less important. The reliability issue though... That's just a matter of fact, and it's one that I deem more important than ANY other characteristic in a car. If it hasn't demonstrated at least better than average reliability, I won't even consider it. Ever. The Focus is just a wretched car. Consumer's Union surveys show consistent low satisfaction with the Focus based on its horrific reliability.

But aside from getting it fixed all of the time it well and true will be a fun car. I honestly wish the Protege was as quiet and refined as the Focus is, as the Pro doesn't even come close.

hum I dont think I am going to have to hit you how can anyone miss the wing???
lol well i guess ur right. so you won't have to hit me so i'll just roll down my window my window and bow to a car that could still out handle me and looks better in my opinion, but this car needed a good home and my friend wanted to see it go to someone who would enjoy the car like he did. and i def. do because it has an engine in it.. reliability is important but hey... not every car's perfect so i'm hoping for the best.

Thanks protege master for your reply! I should have thought about the reliabilty but i was caught up in being able to accelerate in 1st and jam on the gas and fish tail a bit around a corner.. i liked rowing my own gears for once too.. But what can i say? I'm a 16 yearold guy who only wants to show his pals that a foci can hang with their integgy's and eclipses... it'll take a little work but i have a good start.. again, thanks!

I figure thati only paid 16 grand for this focus and well.. me being 16 price is a deciding factor. And the way i look at it.. my car puts out as much HP as the mazdaspeed WITHOUT the need for boost.. will i add boost later on though? YOU CAN BET UR PANTS! then i can just sit back and enjoy the SVT some more!
