Rubbing of Racing Beat Cat-Back w/ Kartboy Hangers

hey, this is my first post on this forum, I also post on a few others.

I have a question. I have the racing beat cat back and a few weeks ago I noticed it clunking over bumps, so I replaced the hangers with the Kartboy Hangers. It was hitting where the pipe goes above the rear crossmember. Well...now instead of hitting it rubs while driving sometimes. Between 3200 and 3600 rpms it vibrates and rubs against the chassis. And also at idle it does it sometimes, especially when the A/C is on.

I have loosened the nuts and repositioned the pipes to make more room where it was hitting, and I now I have probably twice as much as I did before the adjusting. Does anyone know what else I can do to fix this? If I have to I am going to take off the Kartboy rear hanger on the muffler (maybe have to cut it off) and put the stock back on to make more room. How much clearance do ya'lls pipes have where it goes above the rear crossmember? I haven't driven it since I adjusted the pipes, AGAIN, so I'm not sure how it will act once the pipe expands, not sure how much it will expand.

welcome welcome. Yeah that's precisely where mine rubbed against the chassis when I first got it. I think at one point I did go to "stock" (advance auto parts) rubber mounts to give it more room, but the only way to get it 'proper' was to install all the kartboy hangers, adjust the bolts on the racing beat catback, and then used big zip ties on the stock hangers to prevent the catback from sliding side to side on the kartboy hangers.

yeap. i got the zipties to keep it from sliding, but apparently the vibrations are still enough to get it to hit when it's hot. it looks like plenty of room right now since the hangers stop it from being joshed around, but when hot I guess it expands enough that the gap isnt there anymore the only place i have left to adjust is the midpipe bolts. i did the other 4. so if this doesnt stop it i'll keep going. it's about twice what i initially had though.

no rattle/rub today since i adjusted the s pipe. monday i might adjust the midpipe to give it a little more just in case. i'm soooo happy. it's been like 3 weeks that i've had to deal w/ it. its a pain to sit at a light and sound like an old clunker. lol. and actually being able to rev the engine w/o it rubbing

there was a lose nut on the s-pipe, i wonder if that contributed

That's weird...I have both and I've never had an problems with rubbing, although, from that picture, it looks like there's more clearance on mine then yours...

^^ yes, but also noticed it when my car was stock.

always just attributed it to metal expanding
