it's a O2 sensor simulator. It tricks the o2 sensor into seeing what a catalytic convertor would make it.

You need one when you remove the primary catalytic convertor.

I've got a 00 ES and still can't make up my mind between forced or naturally aspirated. Matty, I know you've turboed several proteges, how much NA work have you (or anyone) done. Are there enough internal parts for our 1.8s to go NA, or would a small turbo be a better bet. I'm not looking for POWER but I'm up in CO at 6100 feet and NO AIR.

Also, what is everyone's take on high-flow cats? Backfire probs?

MGS, I've actually not turbo'd any proteges but I did own one. I've built turbo's for numerous other cars though. I've spent all my protege time designing a supercharger for the 1.8L and 2.0Ls.....In all honesty I think an NA build would be a bad idea. FI is SO much more cost/power efficient. I'd actually LOVE to see what my supercharger kit does on the 1.8L cars.

mthegodfather, I'm not 100% sure. I'll have to do some homework on them. What year is your car? automatic or manual?

If you're in the market for a short shifter, don't forget to have a look at ours:
