roof rack question
i have a canadian protege 5. i bought a protege 5 rack of from ebay and realized that the roof rack systems are entirely different.
question is: whats the difference? canadian version has the 4 tabs for the easy thule design. what about the american version? I re-sold my roof rack to someone in the united states but now he says he can't fit it on his car either.
whats going on??
thanks for any advice in advance everyone.

the long sliders alond the entire sides of the roof and the contored crossbars that lock in to the side groove things.
Anyone with an American P5 shouldn't need to buy a roofrack as they should have gotten one with the car.

All american pro 5's come with a roof rack? Wonder why this guy bought it off me and above all he says it's a no fit for his car either. Makes no sense and I'm sure it's a protege 5 roof rack (came to me brand new with mazda instructions and part numbers).

All P5s before '03 had racks. It wasn't an option because it didn't cost anything, but you could order a P5 without one in '03.
Like MYK said, there's long plastic sliders that go over the rubber strips on the roof. The rack attaches to them.
EDIT: On the off-chance that imagestation is working, here's a pic that (kind of) shows the plastic strips

EDIT #2: Nope, they suck. Lemme try again.

Now it makes more sense. Thanks for your help guys.
Is it possible to order those plastics from the dealer? i'm just wondering cause the guy I sold it to wants his money back cause he thought I was selling the entire roof system to him.

You would probably have better luck searching all the protege boards. I have a feeling those strips are not cheap. Here's a few to start with.
