The warranty will be good mostly for electrical problems. Mechanical problems, like you said, can be avoided with maintenance and just the fact that the car is pretty reliable on that end.

It does look like the previous owner may have painted the inside of the headlight to be black, but I could be wrong cuz it's mainly covered in snow. If he did, you might wanna take a closer peak at the seals and make sure there's no condensation building up inside.

 

Canadian P5s have black instead of chrome after 2002. I doubt this is a worry for Shasta.

 

Yeah I saw 2 others today, in fact both yellow, one was a 2002 and the other a 2003, both had black lights too. I'm wondering if the leather is heated.

I want some JDM tails.

 

Yeah, those JDM tails are nice. I've seen a few sets on ebay, but I can't justify spending that much on them when there is nothing wrong with my stockers. I'd rather put that money towards my exhaust.

Welcome aboard! i understand completely - i drove a regualr/auto Protege while mine was in the shop. It was night and day! I love my zoomzoom.

 

Well its been about 2 or so weeks and $60 in fuel (700 km's) with my new P5 and I'm already beginning to forget about my beloved 1990 Civic SI I traded in. This was a good decision to not only get back into the groove of being excited about modding a car again but overall its a fantastic car to drive.

It doesn't quite have the nimbleness of the SI (much smaller and more balanced) but that will be taken care of with some suspension upgrades but its smoother, warmer (if that makes sense, Honda didn't seem to have as much output from the heater). Fuel efficiency definitely goes to the honda but it's not too bad considering the ride comfort. Hydraulic clutch takes some getting use to over cable but 4 wheel brakes are an added bonus and power steering helps with torque steer, SI had loads of torque steer for a small displacement motor. Also more surface area so it blows around quite a bit more on high windy days.

But this is how I feel driving it.



Really loving this car and can't wait to show it off as I start adding my own personal but tasteful touches and upgrades. Thanks again to all those that showed me how to find a good one and I'm really glad the mini cooper deal fell through, much cheaper solution and better in my opinion since it will be great for mountian biking and snowboarding, loads of room.
