Removing shifter extension.

hey guys.

I was looking at the other posts on removing the extensoin from the shifter. I didn't find a how to, or anything with pictures. I did find this though
https://www.mazda3club.com/showthrea...fter+extension

The last post has a kind of how to. Nobody commented on that how to so I'm not sure how good it is. Is that a good way to do it or will i have trouble. Also I think i understand, but i'm not sure about something. When you remove the extender, you take ooff the whole upper portion including the threading correct?. And you ahve to replace it? What would I replace it with, what part is it? Also, any suggestions on a good **** to go with the mod?

Thanks for help. I've been coming to this forum for a while and have been finding a lot of answers to most of my questions.

Welcome to the forum.
I've been around for over three years and don't know anyone who has done this mod.
Seems like a lot of trouble, though. If you didn't have the money for a new SS, I'll bet you could pick up a used one pretty cheap these days.

Re: removing extension

I'm sure not too many people have done it, but I found a few posts with multiple people that have.

I know its not the same as a short shifter, but I'm not racing or anything. I would just like the shifter too be shorter. It bumps my passengers knees, and I think it would look better and be more comfortable.

Thanks.
