I just bought a 2002 Protege ES (I recently found out that the previous owner had installed an aftermarket stereo system and left the old wiring intact.) When ever I take the key out of the ignition, the back light on the radio display remains on.
I first thought that this is part of the courtesy light system, but whe I got into tjhe car this morning to leave for work the display back light was still on. Is this a common feature or is there something wrong with my radio deck.
I just done want this to reak havock on my battery, or burn out the display bulb.

Any suggestions, or input ??????

Could the problem be that the previous owner taped into a"hot" wire and crossed the Radio Accessory connection with this "hot" wire?? The interior light dimmer still controls the brightness of the display when the key is on.

I'am not an audio expert but I don't thing that light should be on all the time. He probably fucked something up when he installed that ****.

 

That is what I figured. Now I just have to get in behind the radio and figure out what he still had connected and to what.
