question about TSB

Hi guys,

I was looking around alldata.com and I saw that there is a TSB that applies to me. THe one about the cold engine rattle. What are the deals with TSB's ? How come they are not recalls ? or are recalls just safety related ? If i bring it to the dealer, the warranty should cover TSB's right?

TSBs are memos that the manufacturer puts out for the information of the dealerships. Basically, Mazda is saying "here is a problem we know about. here is how to fix it". It saves time because you don't have every dealer trying to troubleshoot the same problem all across the planet.

A recall is a notice that something has to be fixed for the car to be roadworthy -- usually, as you say, for safety reasons. Those are very costly because the manufacturer has to notify all of the owners personally, and then they have to fix all of the cars, so they try not to do these.

I assume that your engine problem should be covered by waranty. Take a copy of the TSB or at least the reference number to your dealership and let them know that you think you have the problem they're talking about in the TSB.
