Hey guys..for those who own a protege 5 reply to this message

please. **If you have ur moon rack still on top of your car and

do protege5 look better with the rack on top or without.**

Because i know performance wise, its better to not have the rack

because of the wind noises and etc.

Thansk all.

Ray....I think you will find that just about as many people have the rack on as do off....Personally...I like the rack on....and I don't have a problem with wind noise....you just crank up the volume on the HU and it goes away. :{D

I'm planning on taking mine off this week. Looks too much like a wagon.

sticks are funner to some people, and a nuicense to others.. Sticks are generally faster because you can control the gears, and that is what makes going into a turn and exiting it fun, is the fact that you can put it in the gear you want.

I have the roof rack on.....and don't plan on taking it off. I like the looks of it better on.....and personally........contrary to what a prior poster said......to me the P5 looks more "wagony" with the rack off. To each his own I guess!

looks like a wagon??? i thought it was, we shouldnt live in a dream world folks, u bought a wagon, and a pretty 1 at that.

my rack is off.
i love my stick, i have learned to avoid driving in traffic, but then again i live a more flexable life than most. personaly if i didnt i probably would have gotten a auto, and slapped myself every friday night for it.

Well,.....I consider mine a hatchback more so than a wagon. Not trying to sugarcoat anything as you're suggesting......just the way I view it.

I thought the rack looked fine but the wind noise bothered me. I could have bought the moonroof visor but I love having an unobstructed moonroof opening so the roof rack came off.

I have a stick, but if the autostick had been available when I bought mine I *might* have gone with that--not sure, I'd have to drive it. If you spend a lot of time in heavy traffic, I'd advise against a stick, as it's a pain. If you don't, then I'd go with a stick because it *is* more fun.

As for the roof rack, mine is on--I use it every once in a while to haul things that are too big for the hatch. And I think of it as a hatch, not a wagon--it's like 5" shorter than the sedan version of the car, so in my book it's a hatch, not a wagon.

As for how it looks without the rack, I think it depends. I think the Canadian P5's look better without than the American P5's, because the American P5's have long black stripes left on the roof when the rack is off, which I think doesn't look very good unless you have black or dark blue exterior paint, in which case it isn't very noticeable. But to each their own--it's a good looking car either way.

just thought I would add on the stick vs. auto issue guys....its not how an auto shifts thru the gears that robs power...its the torque converter...so an auto-stick will be a little more controllable than a regular auto, but a 5 speed is still faster and funner any day!
