This whole nomintaing people and crap is just plain stupid. It's like when I was kid (9-11) and wanted to run my own "video game code" business....I had a friend of mine be the treasurer. It was cool for about 2 months then I realized how lame it was. Why can't these guys see that when I could at 11yrs old??
Because they don't have your intellect?

On the subject of car meetings. Every saturday about 50 hot rods and such go up to local parking lot and they just sit around talk and enjoy looking at the various cars. I was wondering if it would be wrong in a sense to try and get some of us protege guys to sort of join in. I mean saturday is always a good day to do something like this. But would it be wrong to impose on these guys. There are a few euro cars that go up. I'm not trying to show up these guys but modding your car is the same no matter what make or model. Now the reason and direction might be different but most of us still have pride in what we do. I don't have any mods done to the car due to money restrictions but I still love my MP5 just like everyone else does. So does any one think it would be wrong to tag on or should I go else where?

Yeah there was one started in tampa and I pretty much dumped on it...all they wanted to do was go to TGIFriday's and eat and talk...I have friends already I can do that with.....I tried several times to see if there was a direction they wanted to go, like attending car shows, getting together GB's, helping each other with the cars, etc, but they pretty much ignored that..If anyone is interested in a real club I'd be all for it.

I would tend to think that those older hotrod guys usually carry a bit of disdain towards import guys....maybe they're jealous that we're faster and get better gas mileage. Maybe they're upset that we don't have to wear diapers again. Whatever the case may be I don't see it working out.

You should try to find your own spot.....but don't get a bunch of kids together and look like ricers hanging out with the hoods up and doing weak burnouts to impress people who could care less what you drive. That is the ultimate in ricerdom.

I don't intend it to be a ricer meet. I am quite satisfied with the perfomance as it is now. I do want my vehicle to look different from every other MP5 out there. But as we all know by now that's not going to happen any time soon. But I can it enjoy just as much when meeting others with the same interests. I guess police would frown upon a bunch of young people hanging around a school parking lot huh?

yeah, when I tried to hold a local protege meet here at the mall we were run off by rent-a-cops who said me having my hood up was creating fumes which were bothering other patrons.

We were at the back of the HUGE parking lot with no cars around us for 20 spaces on all sides. It was just an attempt by the "man" to keep us down.

The "man" sucks. It seems like they willl do anything they can to keep you down. My exhaust is too loud, but a Harley, or Mustang with 3" exhaust is o.k.

yeah, I pointed that out as well. I was harrassed about my honda's exhaust but while the cop was berating me a motorcycle passed by and we had to wait until he was done the road before the conversation could resume......that pretty much marked the end of the noise debate for him.

Why is it that a guy on a "hog" gets harassed less by police than a tuner??....The bike is louder and lets face it which group has more of a reputation for illegal activity...I hate to stereotype but dammit, I can't stand getting pulled over just because another Fast & the Furious movie comes out.

yeah, I hate that as well. I usually look older tham most other "ricers" in my area and I don't have the obvious clear tailights and logo's all over my car so Im pretty well left alone.

I live in a small town though and everyone pretty much knows me and know I take it to the track to run it.

That's what everybody needs to do, take it to the track. Cop's won't bother you there.

<---this ricer girl was giving a fond farewell to her friend's M roadster...perhaps exceeding the speed limit a little...

anyway, she got pulled over and when the cop saw the two dainty 30+ years old women, he shook his finger and said "slow down!"

sometimes, being old sure does have its advantage.

old, my ***. Being cute and driving a hot car has it's advantages...or having my wife's breasts seems to get her out of tickets.
