i was gonna start on installing a b&m short shifter today, but ran into a stupid problem right off. the shift **** won't unscrew! i heard somewhere that ther's a clip in there that will break, and you can't use the stock **** again. anyone know if that's true? maybe the thing is just on there real tight? all i know is i don't wanna break the thing and be stuck with no shift ****.

well, i'm not sure about the P5, but on my roomates cavalier that we are swapping a 5 speed into, the shift **** doesn't screw on, it seats itself between 2 prongs, and then a clip holds it in place, you pop the clip off and the shift **** slides off the top... just look around the **** and see if you see a clip of some sort, i doubt they would make it so if you take the **** off once it can never be used again, so if there is a clip it more than likely is visible...

the P5's shift **** just screws right off...there is no clip to break....and btw....the thread size on the B&M is the same.....so it will screw right on.
