I'll admit I was worried about how my MP5 would be in the snow with those V-rated 16's, but I have been very pleasantly suprised- actually even impressed with the way they drive in the snow. No offense to anyone who's having problems, but there is an art to driving in the snow- maybe you just don't have it down yet? Every time I get a new car, I take the time every winter to find its limits and its foul weather capabilities, as these things tend to vary greatly from car to car. Go find some empty streets and/or parking lots and take the time to practice- it helps AND its FUN!

I put 15" steel wheels with 195/55QR-15 Michelin Arctic-Alpin's on my Pro5 and it's a monster in teh snow and ice... nearly unflappable.

Living in Vermont, there is no way I would run the stock SP5000's in the winter.

Angry Damaged front wheel in slide...Bridgestone R92 POORTENZAS

I have my stock Potenzas R92 on my 2001 ES and the roads were covered about 3 weeks ago in Toronto. Handled ok in the snow, but there was ice underneath (that I couldn't see). Went straight into a right hander with my front left wheel. Rim was bent likean oval and also inside, like the rim on a plastic coffee cup. And I wasn't going fast! POS POORTENZAS! Paid $$$ to get that fixed (wheel + allignment). I have 22,000 kms on it and the front tires are gone. Have to rotate them to the back unrtil October 2002 when I'll get REAL tires. Upset? Hell yeah!

Bridgestone...

greetings from Calgary

I just slapped some good year ultra grips on the car w/ metal studs and I fly past other proteges and SUV's. Tire selection is key up here in the Canadian winters but keep in mind that I did pay over $400 Canadian for these tires.

Good luck and don't smash up your car by driving too fast in slippery snow.
