Question power window speed

Hey folks. Here's an off-the-wall q. Is there any way to speed up the power windows without replacing the motors? I'm doubting it but I figure if it can be done, one of you would know how. Thanks.

we are talking about a DC electric motor.....the only ways to change the speed of your windows going up or down is to:

1. change the motors out to one that has a higher RPM
2. change the gears on the window regulator set to decrease the gear ratio thus making the windown move faster
3. since its a DC motor, you could increase the voltage going to it....but that will eventually damage the motor, not to mention not an easy thing to do is a car.

SO, take your pick.....I am not really sure that any of the choices above are truely feasible.

In theory, Sir Nuke is right, but I've never heard of anyone trying to speed up power windows. How fast do you want them to go?

I was just tossing around the thought. I've been in a few limos and couldn't help but notice that the windows seem to open and close pretty quick. I doubt I'm gonna follow up on this...just curious. Thanks.

Hey if any one does decide to go through with the idea, Id like to know how it turns out. If its not too hard I wouldnt mind faster windows myself.

4. Add a Type-R sticker on the window, will speed it up about a second or so
5. Add turbo/NOS/supercharger?

Is there some sort of window opening/closing competition you're going to enter??? Do you ever hear anyone say, "Dude, check out how fast that window closes on that Protege!". Or that you can say to yourself, "Yeah, my Protege might be slow, but my windows close faster than yours! So take that!".

Just joking, of course

But seriously, forget it dude. It's not worth the effort.

You could also have the motors rewound tighter and this will make the window go up faster and will probably not be able to stop on the stop bar and smash your windows.

maybe you could get some 50,000 rpm electric motors for radio control cars. you could turn your windows into guillotines

hehehehe i was thinking of this exact idea....because my 323's windows go down kinda slow...and when i use my bmw they fly down....my friends even make fun of the sound of the bmw windows going up or down because it sounds like an engine....
