Picking up my Protege 5 Tuesday!!

I've been reading this forum for a while now and I figured it was time to make my first post and what a better way to do that that tell everyone that I just leased a 2003 Laser blue Protege 5.

The only downer is that I got a standard transmission and I have no idea how to drive standard..Thought this would be a good way to force myself to learn.

Anyhow, I just wanted to boast..Take it easy!

Agreed , I got my car a litle over a month ago, it was my first manual as well. Now I'm shifting like a pro .

The only downside to driving manual is when you have to drive an automatic, can you say B*O*R*I*N*G?

My pro was my first standard too. Although I had driven a standard a couple times before. But you will learn in no time. And Jac is right. Automatics are boring after driving a standard. You will never want to go back.

Alex, You got that rite! I'm sure you'll figure it out just fine. You'll be happy you got the manual instead of the auto! Trust me, tell us how the driving goes...

remember automatics, are for crack addicts, heres a little advice on how to drive a five speed,,,,,,1. remember the clutch is your friend. 2. Always use your revs, take your rpm's to the limit, 3. dont be scared to take third up to 80 mph,,,,, have a great day
