Unhappy Phucked Phog Light!

I have a strange problem... In my passenger side fog light, there's a tiny hole, about the size of a pinhead, right through the glass. On the inside of the light, a piece about the size of a quarter is missing from the glass! It looks like it came off from the inside or something! There's another one down low at the bottom of the light, but on that one there's no hole right through the glass.

I thought at first that it was a big rock chip, but snce the damage is bigger on the inside I don't know what's up? What could have caused it?

WIll Mazda replace it under waranty? I've got blue bulbs in them, stock wattage, but as long as I pull those and get them to give me a whole new light assembly (I want to install it myself) I should be ok, right? Does Mazda cover stuff like this? My logic is that they'll blame it on a rock chip, but like I said, it's only about the size of a pinhead, and the damage is bigger on the inside. What should I do?

The hole is smaller than one of the holes on the speaker grills... REAL tiny. But what you're saying, is that whatever hit it was moving really fast?

Yes, rocks and BB's alike will do such damage to tempered glass. It's just the way the inertial energy is absorbed by the glass.

As for Mazda replacing it, I doubt it.

yeah whatever it was was going a pretty good speed, as for mazda, im gonna have to lean twords no on the fixing it thing.mainly because it was an outside force, if it was broken from the poor design of the light bulb or something then yeah, but as far as they know you could have been tailgating. you know they make this light shield, thats totaly clear, and stops this from happening, so if you do get it fixed i would look into that plastic shield.

plastic shield.
A plastic fog light that low would probably break even easier. Besides, it'd more than likely turn yellow eventually.
