Peltier cooled cai?
Hey, new to this board, but have been reading for about 2 months, just got my 02 pro5 a week ago... blah. Anyway i was wondering if anyone has ever thought of putting a peltier cooler onto a cai or sri. I'm not sure how much space it would take as you would have to put a heatsink on the outside of it(a peltier works by one side getting hot, the other cold) and then put some kind of heat sink throught the pipe, as to cool the air passing through... like a hairdryer... but opposite... just thought of it the other day and was wondering if anyone has considered it. I don't think it takes that much power something like 6 amps @12v dc. well if anyone has any ideas or thinks its a stupid idea feel free to expound.

also whats the formula for horsepower gained by lowering temperature? like 10 degrees = 1 hp or something? cant remember... that is saying a cai generally lowers the air temp by a maximum of 70 degrees.

well i know thats what i was saying70 degrees sounds like a hell of alot... that link doesnt work... tried searching for it on the clubpro site and nothing... i read somewhere else it was 11 deg = 1% hp increase. Don't know if thats right, but thats what i used to calculate 70degrees based on a 7hp gain ... the max i've heard a cai can get. The peltier idea sounds logical still... i will research it more see what i come up with.

The idea is a good one, and would probably be worth 3-5 horsepower, depending on ambient temperature. In the fall or winter, you probably wouldn't notice much, but in the summer with 90+ degree temps it would be good. The only problem is that I don't think the unit they're selling is anywhere near large enough. Its designed to cool CPU's, not massive quantities of air at very high speeds. Design a setup like Ford will be using on the new Lightning, where the AC system is used as a supplement to the intercooler, then you'll be on the right track.
