Paint Problem

I was just wondering if anyone else is having problems with their paint chipping or scratching. Mine is just the pits.

Bad Paint

I have had my protege for 7 months and there are more chips on it then my honda which I've had for 3 years. I even got the paint protection clear coat to reduce the number scratches and chips, well it doesn't work.

The paint seems very thin to me !! It is horrible. 9 months and 7 wax jobs later I have more chips and scratches than my 71 vw van that I don't even wash. I have chips that have gone down to a white finish under the paint and black that have gone one step farther.!!! Sucks the Big One

Mine to, has Mazda said anything about fixing this or do we have to take this into our own hands. I'm just tired of looking at chip after scratch after chip.

Yep my paint sucks dog ***** too. My 9 year old Eclipse I had before this car, didn't have nearly as many pits and chips as I have accumulated already in less than a year. And it looks really shitty too, cause I got a yellow p5, and it pits all the way down to where black is showing through. Poor quality job by Mazda in my opinion. I remeber them saying sumthin about a paint warranty, but I'm not sure if this is regualr wear and tear or not. Because I mean I know I'm gonna get chips in my paint, its inevitable, but this is ridiculous, I've almost gone through a whole bottle of that Mazda touch up paint.

Had mine for 6 months and it is beat. Also my yellow paint is so thin that a couple coats of wax have removed the yellow paint down to white. This car has been so crapply FORDED up that it should have a ford name badge on it.

The dealership told me never wax it because it would damage the clear coat. Bull **** it sounds like it's going to take the paint off the car. Has anybody talk to the dealer that they bought the car from to see what they say or will do to fix it.

What? do you use good old elbow grease or are you cheating with a electric buffer?

And please mod don't take this to the exteriro section. Yes I realize paint is "exterior" but this seems to be a p5 specific problem. I think we'll get better feedback here. ANd it is maintanence. We're not trying to mod the exteriro, just trying to keep our paint on our freakin cheaply painted cars.

This is not just a P5 problem it's a Protege problem, I have 2001 ES and it's just as bad as the rest. I'm trying to get the dealer to fix the problem but no luck.

Warranty does not cover this? nothing like a quick fix til you can afford a real paint job, that's just sad that mazda took the short cut on the paint job I guess you can't have everything..

Problem is... you go to most paint places, and they do a regular crappy job... I had a 66 Mustang painted black once, and I was really pissed to find the trunk and door wells were still light yellow.
