p5 seats!!!

Very comfortable. I have taken several long drives that in my older cars would leave my back hurting without a bit of pain. They do lack side support when you are going through the twisties but they have better side support than all of the other cars I drove in its class (excepting one-off cars like the Spec-V and Focus SVT). I think the Jetta is actually the most comfortable seating car in this class, but it rolls like a **** without the sport suspension. That and the weird *** seat controls. I'll stick with my Protege.

Car and Driver gave the P5 seats the best rating in their comparison against the matrix, stroke us, Vibe, Aerio and Pt Cruiser.
I like the fabric and the support. It holds me pretty well in the turns and I have never had a sore back after long road trips.

Unfortunately I would have to disagree with most of you.
But I base this on the fact that I've owned cars with Recaro and other hi-performance seats. But as far as factory seats go I'd say they're average to above average.
They could use more side and lumbar support and if anyone is interested I've found a site where you can buy aftermarket lumbar support systems along with seat heaters etc.
Rostra Precision Controls
Looks good but I think I'll wait till I can afford a good set of after markets.

A comparison to a Recaro seat is probably not fair. I mean these are OEM seats in an under $20K car right?
I absolutely love my Protege 5, but it's not a "high performance" car. The seat matches the performance parameters of the car I think. Give me another 50 hp to toss around or shave a few hundred pounds off the curb weight and then I'd agree we need better side bolsters.

It's probably just me, but I am having a really tough time finding a seating position that is comfortable. The slider notches are either a bit too close or too far, and the reclining is a bit too much or not enough.
I find the side support up top to be adequate, even when autocrossing, although the lower part doesn't exactly hold your legs in. And the fabric is pretty nice.
Overall I would say 8/10..
They actually look like the same seats that are in the white Sentra that SCC mag tore apart in the last issue.
