The Optimal Shift Point???
OK question.....I probaly will not get an answer on this unless Rod jumps in but I will ask anyway. In the Mazdaspeed Pro. what is the best shift point? The red line is a 6500 rpms but I know it will not tach out until 7000 rpms, but I have noticed after 6 1/2 it seems to bog down a little. I really have not had time to go to the track and test this theroy but I was just seeing if anyone knew of the top of their head and hell the best shift point could be @ 6000 I dunno and if I get no reply I will go to the track sometime and try it out and post the results myself....

Phantom is right, the best way to find your optimal shift points is to look at your dyno chart and base your shift points on the hp/torque curves. You don't want to shift so late that you go out of the good powerband before you shift, but don't want to shift so early that your RPM's drop too low either. From the stock Dyno's I've looked at, it looks like shifting at ~6k would be optimal, so long as shifting to second at ~6k doesn't bring you below much below 4500RPM. After 6k, your HP and torque both slope off, so its time to shift.
My $0.02
My $0.02

Assuming you are pretty much stock, power drops off at 5500-6000 rpms, this is your best shift point. IF you wanted to pick a specific rpm it would be at 5800. Much props to Matty on all his knowledge, but why does everyone think he is the only knowledgeable member on this board ?
