Optima battery mounting

So today I finally went and bought an Optima Red Top, and had a question about installing it. These batteries are a little shorter than the stock batery, so the stock battery mount doesn't quite fit. I know this topic has been covered before, but I still haven't found a good fix (or just missed it). I don't want to put a piece of wood underneath it because it wouldn't be sitting down in the recess in the battery tray, and I guess I can't figure out how to bend the stock bracket right to fit it. I got away with jamming a piece of hard plastic between the top of the battery and the bracket, but I am looking for a more permanent fix. Can someone help me out?
