Question

Has anyone rewire the switch to have control of the A/C using the A/C button only?

Canadian Pros do not have their AC engaged, when in the defrost position or the floor/defrost position, well at least mine doesn't. In my mom's Toyota Camry, the AC light goes on when you select defrost.
This doesn't happen in the Pro, and I don't feel AC either.
Yes the do have the ac engaged at those settings, at least my canadian pro does. I even popped the hood and stuck my head out the door to check. I could hear the fan and solenoid come on. However if the temp is low enough the ac won't come on.

On that particular note, has anyone thought of shorting out that sensor to keep the ac off on the non defrost settings, and would the ac button override that. Effectively giving us full control over the ac?
Stocker.

Someone here or on another board spoke of removing the whole 3 dial switch pack, taking it apart, and de-soldering some micro switches from the circuit board. Apparently as you rotate the **** there is a lug that contacts and activates these switches when the **** is in any of those 3 positions.

Ok, now at least I know why the fan is running so much. In my last non-Mazda car, I always had it set on floor/defrost, and that's how I had it set now.

Personally I like this setting. I hate air blowing directly in my face, and if I have it set to just the floor it feels that there isn't uniform air flow.

Plus during the winter, it's nice to have a little air always blowing across the windshield. It always helped me from fogging to much. And when it did, I switched on the A/C button for a few seconds.

It would be nice to have more control over the A/C pump. Mod anyone?

Did a search on "de-solder the microswitches " and found some info. I'm new at this and no sure how to post the link
