Cool new pro owner, couple of questions

Hey folks,

I just got my new protege about a month ago and I had a couple of questions. First, they had this paint treatment that they were trying to get me to buy. Somehow they heat the paint and polymer coat it or something. Just wondering if I should have sprung for this. It added about 25 bucks a month to the payment but I've seen some older mazdas lately (mx6's) with some awful looking paint/chalk. My dealer said I can still get it if i want to.

Also, when should I change my oil? I have about 2200 miles so far. When is most of the breaking in done?(rings, seals, blah blah,) and what weight should I go with.

thanks

Figure if it costs you around 25.00 a month for 5 years your paying 1500.00 dollars for something you don't need
That protective coat will get you in about 3 years or a 1yr when you need to reapply it to keep it working. That is the catch.
Yes it will help your paint. If you wanted to do anything I would have a paint shop shoot a couple of coats of clear over your entire car that would be the best approach to fend off chips and scratches.
That stuff actually kills your paint when not reapplied.

The paint treatment is about the same scam as the "extended" warranty they will offer you with a used car for up to $40 extra a month which is junk unless you keep every one of your oil purchases and filters, etc...and only then after you have taken your car to be fixed, they tell you that you had to dibby up for the "routine" inspections that the factory sends you letters in the mail for....
BOTTOM LINE: MONEY MAKING SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. Real drivers drive stick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ouch,

I am a real driver, and my other car is a stick . I had to get the SA for my girl b/c she can't drive a stick. It was the best compromise we could come up with.

thanks for the replies

awww, that's weak!

Learning to drive stick took me all of about an hour (by myself!). Sure, I wasn't smooth but I could sure as hell drive! I would've made her devote an hour of her time
