Hey everyone,

I'm new to the list, I just bought my wife a new Classic Red P5. We've had it since Thursday and really like it so far. I took her to look at the sedans cause she didn't want a wagon, so as I'm sittin there talking to the salesman she wanders over to the P5's. Now all of a sudden this is the one she want's. Figures, I wanted a 5 anyway. So we brought it home and now I've noticed a few things.

I have the annoying tapping noise comming from the drivers door. Has anyone figured this out yet? I saw a couple posts but no solutions so far.

The stereo... we have the standard cd player with no options, should I replace the speakers or the deck, or do they both need to go. It sounds pretty cheezy.. This is the only thing I really don't like about the car.

Is there a noticable difference with an aftermarket intake? What about the exhaust? These are the only two changes I plan to make along with tinted windows and the stereo. It's not my car afterall but it would be nice with a couple extra ponies. Any recommendations?

and to answer some of your questions.. yes i have an InJen CAI, the car is alot more responsive now, its not like "getting thrown back in your seat" acceleration but it gives it more of a kick. i just ordered an Apexi N1 Muffler (i plan to get custom catback exaust) and i will let you know what kind of a diffrence that makes. As for the stereo.. yes.. it sucks a big one.. i recommend a new headunit first (at least 50wx4, which works out to around 20-22w RMS x4) it will sound MUCH much cleaner and will go louder. If i were you i would get new speakers also but only after a new HU. Ultimatly its up to your wife... right? you and your wife should go car audio shopping and pick out a deck you and her like. from what i have read on the forum, car audio is a very personal thing.. your wife has to "like" the modifications done to the car or it will be all for nothing!

i bought a ractive intake (www.streetbeatcustoms.com) that works well...makes the engine much more responsive without a big increase in engine sound...it is also $70...it's a short ram system and not a cai (cold air intake that fits in the bumper housing) i don't wanna cai in a daily driver b/c of flash flooding and the danger of hydrolocking the engine

 

i have the same tapping from door as well. it's annoying as hell. does anyone know whatthat is?

On the stereo I was more wondering if I would get better performance from changing out the deck or the speakers. Do the speakers sound ok with a better deck or would the deck sound better with better speakers? Or do they both suck.

On the door noise, has anyone taken it to a dealer to have them fix it? Any success? When I get some time I may have to work on finding it.

I think she might also need a better shifter, I drove my car today (2001 WS6 TA) and I can't believe the difference. What is everyone going with for shifters. I'm used to dealing with the american cars and this is my first import so I'm not even really sure who the brand names are here.

yes they both suck nads... but if you have a good HU the stock speakers will sound 100% better, if you have new HU and new Speakers it will sound 500%-1000% better..
