New member! Just got my Protege 5!

Hi all, I just wanted to greet you all and have been astounded with the abundance of information on mazda!! I just got my Protoge 5 after trading in my wifes Kia spectra (damn peice of crap!) and gave her my 2k2 maxima to compensate for getting her a bad car.. which left me with trying to find a decent ride to get back and forth to work . I actually test drove it just for fun, but what it lacked in the maximas power it more than made up in handling, features and content and just plain fun to drive!! I love this little car!! My wife thinks me crazy for getting the pro 5, but to me I see a killer ride... and love every minute in it! 2 days old and love it to death!

Sorry to here about your maxima, Ive driven them and I have no complaints. It is good of you to treat your wife right. I think you made a right choice with your P5. Even though it lacks power, it has great looks, handeling and a decient Mpg.

hello Acts and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Thumbs up

Welcome to the club, AcTs. You're in Salinas, huh? Do you see a lot of P5s around? 'Cause I'm right over in Santa Cruz and I don't see too many. Either way, the P5 is a good choice! It'll grow on your wife, how can it not?

Smile

Yeah, my girlfriend was surprised that I purchased a station wagon when I got the P5 two months ago after driving a sedan for 18 months. She said I should have just gotten a mini-van.....

I am still trying to tell her it is not a station wagon. It is a sport-wagon and I love it. I have 4500 miles on her and just installed a ram-air intake, which sounds great with my muffler.

As said by other drivers, i love my car and look forward to driving it whenever I can. Got her washed today and she looks nice. Almost time to put the stock rims and tires back on. I only drive with them on for the first day I owned the car, them I put on my snow tires w/steel rims. Can't wait to start driving her a little harder with better tires. Have to be careful w/snow tires on becasue they wear down REAL fast when cornering hard, not to mention they are not cheap.

Nice to have you here.....I am very happy w/this site and have had many questions ansered and put in my $.02 over the past two months.

Thanks all!

Thank you all! I appreciate the warm reception!
I can legally drink anything... I am an old dinosaur according to the wife... =) YeT I was sad to let the maxima go, but I did it as I know no matter what she would be safer in it. She didnt seem to mind that she was gaining the maxima! From a Kia to a Max... happy was the word! DAMN I am gonna miss the horsepower in that thing!! Oh well there is always weekends.
I want to get a CAI, but the price discourages me right now... maybe if someone buys my old rims... Of course upgrade the rims n tires from the still good looking stockers...tint, and as far as audio.. i am over a system... just leave that stock.
Still I am excited about the Pro 5 and look forward to meeting and making friends here online as I look to make a great car even better... Again thank you all for welcoming me and making it feel greathere at my new home!

I had a Maxima (97 GLE) for a daily driver and loved it at the begining but grew tired of it last year. I also have a 03 P5 and agree that the power is unmatched from the V6 and I also miss that. The P5 on the other hand feels much better (fits like a glove)and drives so much more easily no to mention it gets better gas mileage. Also, you can now make a "U-turn" that you could only dream about making in a Maxima

Yeah! The pro 5 is fantastic on the turns, and heck yeah! I have been taking corners like a ****! The wife tells me to slow down, which only makes me step on the gas harder!=)
but I just love this car.... It is economical, and looks damn hot!!

The color is that deep blue/purple, dunno what to call it.. I looked for the official name and couldnt find it..
I got manual, returning to it after 3 years of an auto in one form or another. All I have to say is I missed it!!! Is the yellow pro 5 your ride? Cause DAMN it is one SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET ride!
And thank you once more for the welcomes! I do have one question though... has anybody actually gotten the stock 6 disc changer with the minnidisc? if so how much did it run you? I have minidisc galore.... and wouldnt mind buying it off of someone..
