Cool New Guy

What up guys, I drive a 2003 Ford Zx2. I know I'm in the wrong place but i decided to join you since we share a similar engine, the 2.0. And also because other ZX2 owners have limited views on speed. And not very many of them drive an '03 which is the hottest looking ZX2 made. So, what is the real difference between the 2.0's? And what is you input on the 03 ZX2?

i like the front bumper...all I've ever seen of them.

the 2.0L engines are 100% different. They have more differences than similarities. Don't expect to find much part swapping here. I think someone does some automatic tranny swapping though. The focus 2.0L auto tranny is supposed to be pretty strong.

Well how different are they? I mean they both generate 130hp stock(DX, LX, EX), You mean motor mount and what not? Idk

dude, how much do you know about cars?

Ford makes a 3.8L v6

GM makes a 3.8L V6

they are NOT the same engine. Same applies here. the Mazda 2.0L is an FS-de engine. the 2.0L focus/escort engine is a Ztec motor made by ford in 2000-2001. the Fs-de by mazda in 1990.

don't expect ANYTHING to be similar between the two other than their cubic displacement within the combustion chamber.

The 2.0L Ford and Mazda 2.0L do not share any parts. That is true. But I understand where you are coming from, since I assume you are aware that your ZX2 is based on an extensively modified 1st gen protege platform. But, those 1990s Escorts/ ZX2s/ Tracers used Ford engines in them. So, the bad news is engine parts for Mazda will not work. Some chassis components may, but remember that I noted "extensively modified" when talking about the platform, so you will really have to do your research.

As a moderator over at ClubFocus I'm going to shamelessly plug that site! You might find some helpful answers to your 2.0l related questions over there.

Do you also own a Focus? If so, why don't you tell us a little bit about it?

Not trying to steer away a member but I believe the only part that swaps between a 3rd gen and a ZX2 is the shifter..sorry

Well I'm not trying to swap anything, just here to learn more about the Protege. I was going to buy a '02 Black LX 5spd from the Mazda dealership 4 months ago, but at the time I had no credit and it was hard getting a loan. So the day I finally get approved for a loan, I go to the dealership to test drive it and hopelly talk business, when I get there I had to wait a hour then the bitch sells the car right in front of me. I was pissed. Then asks me if I'd like a yellow neon, hell naw!!! yep I could never find another 01 or better "black" Protege 5spd, they were all either gold, silver, or white, and all ATX!!! And everyone in town had a silver or gold one. So I saw this hot *** red coupe drive by that I had never seen before, with a ford emblem?what the f**k is that? so a week later I see one for sale, and later bought it

No offense, but you should have waited for the Protege - or bought the Neon, which is quite a bit faster and better handling than a ZX2.
