New To Forum I have a couple questions
Hey everyone. My name's Gary. I just bought a 2003 Protege ES I know it has the 2.0L and it is a 5 speed. I bought it yesterday and have already put 200 miles on it because I am bored out of my mind and have nothing better to do than drive right now. Anyway, I have a question. Are their any mods I can do to it to make it Faster without voiding the factory warrenty? I have a 2001 neon that I auto cross so I will not be raceing it to often but would like it to perform a little better and rev cleaner through the rpms. All help is greatly apreciated.

Just to clarify ?
Faster or Quicker ?
You want 140mph or 0-60 improved
I always say if I had my chance again I would try and apply the stock HP better ie: flywheels, underdrives etc.. then turn to the breathing side starting with headers, de cat, cat back then onto CAI to get some cooler air in after that you would be noticing a nice change to your motor
then poss fueling or cams, pistons etc.. if you want
spray, blowers etc...
Good luck modding is like pringles once you pop you cant stop

Ya I know about the modding bug. I had a jeep cherokee that I built a 4.7L stroker motor for and before that I had a 91 firebird with a 383 stroker in it. I am just looking for quicker 0-60 times. But I have to be careful not to void the warrenty.

just remember no modification actually voids the factory warranty...if a part you modify actually causes a failure then the dealer wont fix it under warranty...thats how it works...strange though that you would autocross a neon rather than a protege??

I just bought the protege 2 days ago. I am going to take it to the autocross as soon as the season starts back up and see how I do. I just started autocrossing last year and it was either autocross the neon or my jeep cherokee and they wouldn't alow my cherkee

Welcome to the club. I'm sure everyone will jump all over your question to help you out. Like Macdaddyslomo says, your warranty will not be voided unless connected a part you modify actually causes the failure.
If you are not looking to spend a lot of money then an intake/header/exhaust might be the option for you. But you are not going to see a whole lot of gains.
