Mystery wire under seat?!?

I was installing my radar detector today and when I crawled under the dash to run a wire for it I noticed that there is a wire that comes up from the floor of the car (a small plug) and seems to run into the driver's seat!

Anyone know that this is for? I did not see one on the passenger side.

thanks, oh yeah... it's a P5.

Red face

Dont be alarmed, that is the seat sensor for the seatbelt light on the dash. I just unplugged-sometimes I do not wear the seatbelt and therefore the light wont come on.

Lightbulb AHHHH!

AHA! thanks!!! I had never seen that run the way that they did... most of the time I see that wire come down the center console... well, now I know. Funny place for it, seems like when you put the seat all the way back it might be exposed to damage... oh well.

thanks!

Mystery wire...always cut the red one!haha

JJB,

The wire you see is probably for the SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM. You might notice if you unplug it with the car on that the little guy on the dash lights up. I'm not sure if the system is wired in a reverse loop, maybe the little guy will go out!!

I have two sets of wires going to the drivers seat and one to the passengers. Anyone else have side air bags?

another possibility?

I was wondering if you could hook something else to that seatbelt warning light. Maybe a neon light or something? So that when you get in your car the light will come on? I know nothing about electronics so I may be being a bit far fetched here.

I do, and I have the same wires that you describe: A yellow one going to the passenger's seat, and a black one and a yellow one going to the driver's seat
