My Pro5 VS My 240z

Ok, so I have a dilemma on my hands
I am throughly unimpressed with my Pro5's power/sportscarness but I know that it isn't ment to be a sports car

I have a kinda beat up 240z that i could make a fire breathing monster but i don't have the money to do it along with my pro5

should i just use my pro5 as a commuter and pour all my money in the 240z or forget the Z and pour all my money in the pro5

( i want to make a track car/street racer/cool car in general )

any input would be appricieated

If you are looking for a good track car/street racer/cool car I'd say definitely do with the 240Z. It's a sharper car, a head turner, can be much quicker than Protege5, and you don't see them every day. Go for the 240!

i agree. go with the z cause it would be faster and a cooler sports car since it's pretty rare. but then it would be a real project to fix up rather than to improve on your already perfect p5. you're right, you can only choose one baby to work on.

the nissan definately has more potential, or known potential. swapping a nice turboed engine into the z is always a good starting point.

and think, all that drifting you can do

I think that the answer to this question depends on how "kinda beat up" the 240Z is. I've owned a 71 240Z and a couple of other older vehicles, and trying to fix up a 20+ year old car can be much more expensive and time-consuming than hot-rodding a late-model vehicle because of the number of parts that deteriorate from age and/or maintenance neglect.

S30 Z-cars can be generally described as an indestructable powertrain wrapped in a fragile, thin, rust-prone body and a cheap-*** vinyl interior. Rust and/or wreck damage can turn these cars into junk in a hurry, and the interiors simply disintegrate if the car's been left in the sun. If you're just looking for a cheap hot rod, this may not be a big issue, but if you expect the car to be NICE, expect to spend money and time searching for parts. This might also be a good time for an HONEST assessment of the car's condition, because many Z's that I've seen deserve to be crushed. [Also, if you DO want a cheap hot rod, I would honestly recommend a newer vehicle with better parts availability.]

However, if the car's a good starting point, I think it would make a great car.

I personally like the p5 over the 240z if you want power just get a turbo kit for the p5, will run you about 4k. Along with an Injen CAI and a skunk2 or greddy exhaust system, you will have plenty of power

P5 POWAH!!!!!

omg do you have any idea what you could do to a 240z for 4 grand????? first thing would be to find a L28T with harness and all...shouldnt to too expensive or difficult...then get the the body straightened out and get a r200 LSD from a 300zx....just the stock l28T puts out 180hp and thats gonna make a lightweight 240z fly!!! plus i guaran-tee a cherry 240z will turn WAY more heads than a P5.....

well, what i have in mind is a skyline RB25DET (~250 hp) for about 4k + that engine can be brought up to like 400 whp without much problems. any idea how fast a 2400 lb car with 400 rwhp is? FAST

just to let you know the swaps I have seen where a rb26dett engine has been place din a 240sx required ALOT of cutting a welding of the frame of the car just to get it to fit and then it is so cramped in there that you have to have all your bolt on custom made (in most cases).

If you are going to do a swap, which I dont think is necessary in the first place, go with an sr20de motor or even use the new QR25DET motor from the new SE-R specV and then drop the sr20de crank in it and you will be able to rev to 8 or 9 grand and still be able to hit 4 or 5 hundred horsies which might just tear the wheels off your car =)

Like has been said above I would rather see the original Lseries souped up.
