My new 2002.5 P5. I love Mazdas :)

Hey all. This is my first post here. Just picked up my classic red Protege 5 yesterday. I love it. I love Mazdas in general. I also have a '91 Miata which has been fairly modified. Anywho, go to http://www.nramsey.net and click the "My Protege 5" link on the left to see it. Feel free to check out my Miata as well. The Protege is almost as fun as the Miata, but has a good deal more haulin room as you can imagine

Wow nice! I'm new here too; a convert from MX6.com (I've got a 95 MX-6 LS).

I'm getting something new in about 3 months...currently my choice is a Protege ES or Protege 5, equipped idental to yours (5 speed, only option a sunroof).

I think I'd find it as fun to drive as my MX-6...I'd just have to get used to driving something with a little less power/torque.

Nate and Tyson....welcome to the board.....there is a fridge in the corner with all the cold drinks you can stand...its self stocking you can't make it go empty. :{D plop on one of the comfy couches, kick off your shoes and put your feet up.....make yourself at home and enjoy.

Congrats Nate on the new ride..... you won't regret it ofr a minute....ESPECIALLY after you take it though the twisties for the first time and discover its true potential.

Thanks guys. The only mods I really have planned for the immediate future are tinted windows (probably the legal 35% around here in WA) and having the front end fitted with Stongard to keep rock chips at bay. Seen the Stongard on Miatas and you can hardly see it.

I have been kinda thinking about a Mazda sport exhaust and some lowering springs, but I don't wanna screw up the ride or have the car be too loud as this is my daily driver. When I wanna be obnoxious I go drive my Miata which is quite stiff riding and "vocal"

Thanks for the welcome Sir Nuke I really am pleased with the handling. It's remarkable how well the car handles. Its by far the best handling front driver I have ever driven and a real pleasure to take through the twisties. My first day in it I took it through one of the local roads I found with my Miata and all I could do was smile

Nate

Hi Nate

Welcome to the board. I have the Stoneguard on my P5 and I love it. I know it has saved my front end from chips and nicks. I am trying to post some pics in the regional section of the board (Western Canada) but I was having some trouble doing so. By the way you may want to shop around for prices as there appears to be quite a difference out there.

Cheers
Chris

Hey Nate

So I see you got you one too. I wonder how many people are using P5s as their OTM (other than miata). Enjoy I know I have enjoyed the past month in mine.

I replied over in your other post. I paid about $1000 off MSRP but if you're less picky about options/color you could probably do better.

Thanks Chris. If you have pics of your stongard I'd love to see them. If you don't have a place to post them e-mail them to me and I'll throw them on my web space. Thanks!

Haha, funny you mention that. The car actually came from Spokane Only car I could find in Washington or norther Oregon with moonroof as the only option and was not black or blue in color.

Nate, I have some space with my IP but I have to figure out how to post the pics here. 99&00 showed me how to post one pic if it is on your hard drive but we found out that did not work.

Hopefully you can see the stoneguard in the pics as I find it hard to see it in real life.
