MP5 Gas

What kind of gas do you guys use in your protege5's ? Someone told me i should use premium gas in it. Also someone told me every 8 fill-ups i should use premium gas. Any truth to these statements or should i just use regular gas ?

every car is different and since the manual says use 87 octance, then 87 is a safe bet. some cars run better on the higher octane and some run worse on higher octane, my car runs better on the higher octane. THEMAN has done testing with the different octanes and on he monitored that the ecu advanced the timing alot with the higher octane. this was only tested on ONE ecu nd no dyno testing have been done. so run what you want, see if there is a difference. i can tell the difference only when i try to accel up a big hill in 5th gear at 70mph.

Here is my findings, keep in mind this involves no testing, just what seems apparent to me.

regular: best milage, weakest performance
mid-grade: worst milage, no performance increase
premium: decent milage, small performance jump

I didn't even notice he was from Surrey until you mentioned it.

I say use regular unleaded (87 octane). Do a search if you want to find out why; it's already been beaten to death here.
