MP3 parts...
MP3 parts...
Hey everyone, I just registered for these forums because in a few months, I get my moms 2001 MP3
, yes my mom drives a MP3 but she got it becasue we knew Id get what car she bought at the time, but anyway, like I said, I'm getting it in a few months and I figured why not start getting stuff for it now. I've searched the internet and couldnt find too much but am getting some info here. Now I also know I could use the search feature and I bet a bunch of questions have been asked to death, but I dont feel like searching around for a bunch of different answers, so I'll ask them here. If you can answer one or all, thanks a lot, just put the number your answering to help me out, Thanks! Here goes....
1. What company makes this supercharger I've read about, how much, and where could I possibly get one? Because it seems like Roddimus Prime makes them, has them himself, or just knows a whole lot about it.
2. What do you think is the best intake for the MP3(company)?
3. What headers/exhaust is available for the car?
4. Will body kit parts for a MP5 or MSP fit the MP3 such as bumpers, side skirts and hoods. As far as I know the bumpers would but hoods and side skirts I wasnt sure, just checking!
5. Aside from the first three questions, what would be an upgrade that would be worth it, Cams, Pulleys, Etc., Anything...?
6. I've read a bit on the goldlines 2" drop, but I know a lot of people who drive the MP3 say the tight suspension steering is a high point of the car, so would it be worth it to get the goldlines?
I thought I had more questions, but if I think of any more I'll edit the post and add 'em on, Thanks again and I like the forums!

2. Ebay
3. OBX headers are good from what i hear, so are wagner, exhaust would be corksport, Racing beat, Magnaflow
4. i believe you would need some fabrication.
5. if your doing upgrades, now is the best time to choose either NA setup or FI, going one way then changing to the next is a waste of money.
6. dropping the car makes the center of gravity lower, making it lean less (i believe) so i think it wohould be worth it.
I am the person responsible for making the Supercharger kit. I'm making this all myself and will be selling them myself. If you have any questions about feel free to ask me in the WOMP thread. Thanks for the interest.
Best intake for any 2.0L motor is posibly the Ebay CAI. I bought one for $48 shipped off ebay and it looks and performas identical to the Injen CAI.
If you're interested in buying the supercharger a little later on then you should invest in the OBX 4-1 header available from www.protegegarge.com . They are about $230shipped and work very well. My supercharger is designed around this header specifically.
The MP3 is basically a protege ES as is the MSP. Anything made for a regular protege sedan will fit. The P5 is a bit shorter and will have problems with rear bumpers and exhausts.
I would invest in an AWR front motor mount (at type), Kartboy shifter bushings, Kartboy exhaust hangers, and any catback exhaust you prefer.
Do not adjust the MP3 suspension unless you feel it's too harsh for you and want something softer. while the goldlines are nice springs you can get top-of-the-line Tein S-tech springs for about $140-150shipped. I'd go that route. They have a 1.8F 1.5R drop and look real good.

Hey, Thanks a lot to both of you for the quick response and the information, looks like I'll start saving and hope to get some of this stuff soon. Matty, you say you got a CAI off eBay, something like this or, this?
All the motor mounts, bushings, etc. you speak of, where would I be able to get them?
Also which exhaust would you suggest with the OBX headers because you say your supercahrger is designed around them, so do you know of one system that works particularly well with the OBX headers?
And lastly, might sound kindof dumb, but I've heard talk of NA and FI and whatever in the past, but never knew exactly what people were talking about, so could you explain the definitions and difference to clear things up so ill be more knowledgable in the future, it would be appriciated!
Thanks again to both of you and hope to hear back quickly.

As for NA vs. FI.
NA = Naturally Aspirated... Your MP3 is NA. Air is drawn directly from the outside through the filter/intake, into the throttle body, through the intake manifold, and into the cylinders where it mixes with the fuel.
FI = Forced Induction... The MSP is FI. There are 2 or 3 different FI setups, depending on who you ask. Turbo, Supercharger, and Nitrous. Some don't count Nitrous as FI, but I do. Turbo = uses exhaust gases and a turbine to force much more air into the engine. Supercharger = runs off the crank pulley to do exactly the same thing. Nitrous = is basically more-air-in-a-bottle that you pump into the engine. Many people are under the misconception that Nitrous burns like fuel and adds power. This is not true. It is merely a way to introduce more oxygen into the mixture, enabling more fuel to be burned.
Hope this answered your questions, at least a little. If you have any more, ask away.
And thank yer mom!! Sge is awesome to give you such a sweet ride!
It could have been some crummy ol' Saturn or Pontiac Sunfire
and she is *giving * you a car? Nope. Ol Moms never did that! "When i wuz yer age i hadda' _earn_ tha' ching for my ride!! [geeze]
Welcome aboard!

Hello again, yeah, I am pretty lucky, I do have to pay her a little bit, but its still a sweet deal.
Dude... thanks for the explination of NA and FI, no further explination needed, and I think Id agree with you that nitrous is a FI. But about the OBX headers, you think I would have trouble passing emissions with the right exhaust or would it be a good idea to keep the stock around to throw back on for inspection?
Thanks to everybody who helped out on my questions, and aside from asking matty about that CAI, and the question above, I've got all the info I need for now!

Alright, and two last things, are these the type of CAI you were talking about on eBay.
Intake 1?
Intake 2?
And lastly, is protegegarage.com shut down? when you go the the site it says "closed yo." so just wondering if you knew anything becasue I saw some stuff there I would really be intrested in.

they are both acceptable intakes....the first one is more like the one I have.
I dunno about protegegarage.com man...I was hoping to avoid this topic but i've made a bid to buy them out so we'll see what happens.

Really!? Keep me updated on that becasue like I said I was interested in a few things on there and with the knowledge you seem to have of the cars, I bet you would put a lot of other great parts on there I'd like, such as your supercharger once you finish it!
Cant wait man, I saw the videos and stuff on the other forum, looks like its coming along great! Keep it up!
I'll probably wind up buying that intake or something like it soon, maybe after X-mas so ill have some money.
The AWR motor mounts, I looked around and couldnt find anywhere to purchase them, would you happen to know where they have them?
And I take it since you suggest switching the headers over for inspection, then it wouldnt really matter which exhaust I got if I'd be switching the headers for the inspection. Speaking of the headers, I found them on eBay for $217 shipped HERE. . They look to be in good condition and hes sold them 3 other times so if i can get the money I think I'll try to get them and be on my way to making my car even nicer then it is!
Thanks again.
