I'm stuck in the middle of installing a Momo shift **** and boot
The **** is called "Race" series on www.momo.it/momoeng/set1.html
and the boot... guess it's performance boot

I'm not quite sure how deep I should put the rubber ring into the **** or how I should use the 3 screws to fix the **** on the shifter...

Also, how do you cut the boot so that it fits? I find it pretty difficult to cut a good shape...

any help is appreciated. Thanks

hey, it should come with rubber rings and a little rubber cup. the cup goes in first then only put the ring in so its about 1cm inside the shift ****. the bottom of the **** unscrews, revealing the 3 holes to insert the little screws to secure the ****. it comes with instructions and its gotta be one of the easiest mods to do yourself. the bolts just tighten onto the shift lever to tighten it and then cover the bolts up with the bottom of the **** that you had to remove earlier.

I had a bunch of rubber cups but no rings...
do you push the **** all the way down the shifter? e.g. the cup attached to the inner top of the ****.

yea push it all the way down then secure it. did you figure out how to remove the metal collar at the bottom of the ****? it should just unscrew.

Okay.. remove the collar that's attached to the ****. Just unscrew it. Then get one of those rubber cups and see which fits your shifter. As soon as u find the right one, Put it inside the ****. Take the collar slide it over the shifter, then take the **** and slide that on after. The **** should be pressed down until the ring is completely inside and can't move anymore. Then you center it w/ the 3 little screws and the hex key. then screw the collar back on. Hope that helps.

Kool. That helps.
But I've problems reaching the screws if the **** is pushed all the way down... The collar would block those screws... Anyway, lemme give it another try.

You might need to move the boot out of the way. On the 2003 p5, there's a piece that makes the stock **** sit higher. It you can remove that piece under the boot, you can reach your hex screws.

here is mine, its a Momo Phantom **** with the performance boot...sorry about the shitty pic

I am not exactly clear on your problem, but in order to get my boot to fit properly I had to remove the shifter's metal extension...Mostly becuase of the larger diameter "seat" for the stock boot. I jamed one of the rubber cups all the way up into the **** and then cut the top portion of a secon cup to turn it into a sleeve to slid into the lower part of the **** (where the bolts thread through) It allowed me to mount the **** a little lower. It is tricky to install the boot once you mount the ****. You need to have the center cupholder removed, thread the the boot onto the ****, and then pull the boot over the stock plastic coller. After that screw in the collar to the center console and reinstall the cupholder...

As far as cutting the momo boot, I removed the stock boot and then cut about 2 inches off the momo boot. I then made a few slits in it similar to those on the stock one. You can then install it on the little plastic lips on the collar...It takes some trial and error, so don't cut too much off the first time. Its better to have a little extra to work with...You definatly have to at least remove the elastic part of the momo boot to get it too fit properly...

Also if you have the performance boot, which has the threading to screw into a momo ****, you completely remove the collar that threads over the allen bolts. In that pic you can see how the boot covers those. IF you have an elegance boot, which is designed to be universal with any **** and doesn't thread into it, you still use that collar to hide the bolts...

A lot of heat and a little effort. The extension is just glued on but it takes quite a bit of heat and a lot of elbow grease to get it off.

After you remove the exention, is the piece underneath threaded?
