Question Millenium Red Vs. Garnet Red

I am purchasing a 2002 Mazda Protege ES in Garnet Red, but they are getting it from a different dealership. I have not seen the car.

What is the difference between the Garnet Red and Millenium Red?

Does anyone have pics of the garnet red?

i went through the same confusion when purchasing my car barely two months ago. unfortunately, mazda decided that it was a good idea to start changing colors in the middle of the year! the first half of 2002, they produced a red car painted "millenium red." mid-year (july-ish) they stopped producing the millenium reds and began making "garnet red" proteges. these two are NOT the same color. i don't have pics of the garnet red. all the brochures i have are of millenium red - when i purchased the car, which happened to be mid-year, the brochures all had millenium red pictures in them, but not of garnet red, since the brochures were not yet updated to reflect the new color. sort of annoying, i was quite confused for a while.

but anyway, garnet red is a much deeper red, dark, as mentioned. i would describe it to be a deep cherry color, almost burgandy. the posted pic of the miata is pretty close to the color of the garnet red proteges. millenium red is much more "red" than garnet is - it is brighter, lighter, with less brown/purple tones to it. the two are very different. only catch is if you buy a millenium red now, if there are any still available, they are not as fresh off the production line as the garnets are. but that is probably more info than you wanted!

Mine was Millenium Red. So you can see the difference. I liked my color and don't like the new red. Looks to purple to me.

Thanks all.

Yeah I'm on the mend. Month in hospital and month in rehab. They estimated 6 months in hopital but I proved them wrong

Coma for 3 weeks is not pretty. Car doesn't look like that now. After I got the rims off they hauled the engine and stripped down anything that was good. Right now it's a frame.

A car hit me on the drivers side and I went into a slide and hit that post. Nasty stuff.

Thanks for the concern. Didn't think anyone would notice.
