If I could afford a Subaru, I would be driving one.
There should be some pretty deep discounts on the bug-eye Imprezas any time now as the new body styles are available.
You might also get good deals on used ones from rich people who have flipped their WRX for the STi . hehe

I'm just trying to throw out reasons why there are so many. Maybe they are cheaper over there, maybe people do actually take them offroad but can't afford a car to drive to work and drive offroad, or maybe they just like the car?
