MazdaSpeed Rear Bumper Cover & Side Skirts ---> Fit on 2002 ES Sedan?

Hi all,

I have 2002 ES Sedan and I managed to hit the ditch yesterday in deep snow. To make a long story short, in the process of trying to get my car pulled out, I managed to tear off the rear bumper cover. It is cracked along the bottom and all the bolt points are torn right off. Everything else underneath is intact, just the cover is damaged.

My question is two-fold:

1. Will the MazdaSpeed Protege Rear bumper cover fit without having to change anything?
2. Will the MazdaSpeed Protege Sideskirts fit and if so, what hardware/OEM parts is required to fit it?

Your responses are much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Sides and rear are identical to my knowledge.

Do it! The Protege looks so much better with the Mazdaspeed bumper kit. If you have the money, you should go ahead and get the front bumper too (I'm not certain, but I'd bet that getting the entire bumper kit would be cheaper than each part individually). There's one problem though. What color is your ES Protege? If it's not black, orange, blue, yellow, or gray, then you'd have to get the Mazdaspeed bumpers painted to match your car, because the Mazdaspeed version came in limited color choices.

wrong..Im almost certain the MSP kit will fit on a regular sedan. The only thing u need to change is the bumper support in the front. U will have to drill new holes for the sideskirts, but everything bolts up after that.

Yeah, not sure who would have told you that, but everything from the doors back is interchangeable on the sedans. I am 99% positive of this.

I have a set of skirts for the MSP that I don't want that line up perfectly on my '02 LX sedan. Sounds like somebody's getting fibbed to...

Does that mean you are selling them? If so, PM me with details and pics if you have any?

How much does the Mazdaspeed rear bumper cost? My fiance got my car into an accident and my bumper and bumper cover is all screwed up. Now Im not sure whether or not I want to get the same bumper cover or something totally new. Depending on the price and how it looks, I might be in the market for something like this. Would the Mazdaspeed piece be a new replacement bumper or a new bumper cover? Where can I get my hands on this?

I've been thinking about putting the mazdaspeed skirts/bumper/spoiler on my 02 Protege ES to make it look a bit nicer, how much approximatly would this upgrade cost?

Ken told me that the bumper should fit, but the rear lip won't. Is that true? I mean I trust Ken and all so Im sure he's right, but I wanted to get a second opinion just to make sure. If the lip doesn't fit, might anyone know where I could find a nice looking rear lip to compliment the bumper? Thanks.

Steve...the rear bumpers for all sedans are the same....the lip is what is on MSP's and MP3's that makes it look "lower" and completes the OEM "body kit"...the lips fit's just fine too on a regular sedan....

Good to know. So does that mean the rear bumper has a rear lip and bumper cover or just the rear lip by itself?
