Question MazdaSpeed Protege Prices, Orders?

I'm sure some of you are inquiring about prices, and maybe even placing orders already!

So, out with it - how much, where etc?

I made a few inquiries, and it seems that between Browns, Arlington and another (Russel?) Mazda in Northern VA/MD/DC, Browns (the huge dealership off Route 50) seem reasonable and want about a $500-750 markup (Quoted 21,188 plus TTL!), and one of the others quoted nothing concrete, but the third implied a HUGE markup!

Also, Brown's rep told me that since they're such a huge dealership , they'd get MANY MSPs, and their first shipment may be in as soon as a week from now! Although I'm pretty sure test drives won't be offered, I'll be there to get a look at it again next week (I saw it already at the NY Auto Show in March)

Not that I can afford to, or plan to buy a new car now - just wanted to live vicariously off the others

I have read in the Automotive News, that Mazda went through a tough qualifying process of which dealership will get Mazdaspeed, and slightly less then half of all dealers in the country are going to get the cars. I do not see why the dealers would mark up the prices though. It is not a rare model, and just like MP3, Mazda is going to make 2000 of them each year, and maybe more later on, with a variety of colors. They are just gready bastards who are looking every way how to get more money from you only because they can.

Hey i live in nothern virginia and my dealer said he's getting 5. 3 in orange and 2 in black. And by the way there will be no markup on the vehicle at all. It's gonna be $20,500 plus TTL.. So i think u are gonna get jacked at Browns if you ask me.

Just so you know, there is no way that your dealer would know exactly what colors and how many he is receiving (yet).

I say that because as a Mazdaspeed dealer we can not order the vehicles. Because we can not place an "order", we can't choose what colors or how many we want to receive. I.e., we can't say we are going to get "3 orange and 2 black". The fact that he is stating he will receive more orange than black is cause for suspicion, too, because there will be far fewer orange than black (on a ratio of about 3:1).

Mazda is just shipping them to us, and they will show up on our inventory in the next few weeks. At this time, we are anticipating arrival during the second week in November. We have been confirmed to receive five (again, no idea what colors), but anticipate receiving six or seven vehicles total (based on our dealer volume).

Just a bit of buying advice, so you know if you're dealing with someone who's shooting you straight.
