Yep, the '03 black headlights do look pretty cool. I was checking them out too at the dealership the other week when I took my '02 in for an oil change. But I really really like the '02 headlights too. I can't deside...

my friend suggested to me to just open the cases and spray paint the inside black, but i think i would rather buy the authentic ones instead.

I'm trying to figure this out. The Mp3 and MazdaSpeed Protege have the same blacked out single headlights as the Protege ES. The Protege5 has amber side reflectors on the bumper just around the sides as these are required in N/A. The MP3 and MazdaSpeed don't have these as amber signals are visible from the side integrated into the single-beam headlights.

The Protege5 has dual-filament headlights. It has a different bulb for low and high beam. The sedan does not have this.

That clears that up?

The MP3 and the protege sedan have the same headlights with black interior....the Mazdaspeed has a dark grey interior in the headlight.....well at least the one I saw at the dealership....But If you convert your P5 with MP3 or MPS headlights you will need rewire some things....I put in some MP3 headlights and now my lights are stuck in High beams when you turn your lights on since your using a different bulb....You will need that extra wire (3 wires total) like the MP3's have that goes to the bulb and not just two wires like the P5's.....make sense? Also...dont ask me how to rewire it because i dont know how....thats what my service tech is doing at my mazda dealer.

Why waste the money on the authentic ones? no one will know the difference, and you can use that money on something with performance value instead....go buy some flat black hi-temp engine paint, and go to town on them...just take your time, and be careful taking them apart...I jacked some clips under the front of the headlights cause I was in a hurry...had to epoxy it. Good luck...save your money

I got the MSP mousepad myself, and now I can surf the entire web in 14.8 seconds

balck Lights

I bought my car from a dealer in Leduc, Alberta, Canada.
They said they could bring in the Black Housing 2003 Protege 5 Headlights. Call Warren @ 780-986-9665.

Good Luck

Ya, but last time I checked, they would cost an arm and a leg... Just paint them yourself...
