Mazdaspeed Engine Cover

They are a little pricey but might be worth it instead of the trouble, will wait till the cover arrives and see how complicated it may be. Maybe I'll copy them and sell them . lol

If you get the DG brackets BE VERY CAREFUL. Don't be stupid like me and try to make everything really tight, you'll break welds on the brackets leaving you stranded with the engine cover stuck on >_<
this pic is it without any brackets at all:

no way. I've autocrossed plenty of times with it there. I don't think it's actually possible for it to come loose, but I'd be the one most able to test that theory. I can take out my hood grille, reach in, and try to dislodge it with the hood closed. Since the oil filler neck sticks up above it so far I don't think it is at all possible for it to come off. It doesn't even spin around or anything!

Otherwise it is just.. sitting there. i.e. if your hood was open and there was a 75mph wind gust, it might fly away. With the hood closed, no worries. With the brackets, it sits a little bit higher (making the oil filler neck basically invisible, just see the oil cap itself) and is secured in place, so that the next time you do a barrel roll your engine cover doesn't move

Based on my current track record, I may need the bracket
Good to know though, I think I'm gonna pick up an engine now!
3 days later edit: That should say 'pick up an engine cover now
