Ok, guys. I just got a call from the dealership I have a deposit with for the MSP. I was told that they cannot sell the car until DECEMBER first! Because of a small FIve dollar part they are waiting for, But the dealership dosent know what it is. Has anyone else been told this? Or am I being lied to?

If you live in Canada, your getting a little bit of a story.
The truth is that Canadian production of the Mazdaspeed is not even finished yet.
they have to be finished, then shipped out.
Your looking at another 2 months at least.

You're not quite correct. The reason for the delay (in Canada) is that Calloway has balked at Mazda Canada's 5yr / 100,000km powertrain warranty, which defacto extends to the turbo system. In the US, Calloway only had to warranty it for 3 years and they want no part in a 5 year warranty. Per my contact, they're still at lagerheads...that's why no work is being done in Richmond (port installs).

very sad as it's going to have a negative impact on the mazdaspeed's introduction to canada. bad way to kick off what it appears they intend to be a relatively long-term offering (across different models i mean).

my guess is calloway won't be involved in future projects and mazda will do a little bit more homework next time they outsource for expertise.

Work is being done, at the Richmond port, I go there all the time and the cars are getting finished, and there are approx. 200 of them sitting in the south dock shipping area, and about 45 or so in the front lot where they work on them and they have been installing spoilers and exhaust.

I still don't think that we see them much before the end of the month or middle of next month. I wouldn't be surprized if mazda held onto them and released them in the spring.

Im almost 100% sure that Mazdaspeed is not involved with any type of dispute with Calloway at this time.
I wanted to check on the Mazdaspeeds so I talked to a couple of people from Mazda Canada and they said that the Turbo is part of the 5 year/100k warranty, and there are no problems at all with the warranty.
I asked my boss to look into the whole Calloway thing because noone at my dealership as seen anything about Calloway yet.
The undisclosed dealer specs we have on the turbos dont have any Calloway logos on them at all.
If you have a link where there is some solid info. can you post it for me?

Thanks alot!

Good to hear, and thanks for getting the info.

Since several of you know insiders:
1. I've been hearing of several forum members getting "we're sorry" freebies both in Canada (eh, Digi?), and US. Is this now policy?

2. What's the deal with training for the Canadian dealerships? Are they going to receive similar training the designated US MazdaSpeed dealers? My dealer (albeit the sales guy) doesn't know jack about the MS accessories. It makes me worry about the special prep alignment they are supposed to do that I think The Man discussed elsewhere.

We dont get the same training as the American dealerships as there are differences in our product and availability.

THE_MAN is quite correct that I dont work for Mazda Canada, however I DO have alot more RELIABLE contacts than your magazines and internet sites. If you live a sheltered life (not my business) And I think YOU do since you seem to spend your time on the internet moderating a web site all day and in all that time you still have not learned how to spell.

I thought this was a forum I could come on to learn and exchange information and even chat with other Protege owners, but it seems you'd rather bitch at everyone who doesn't agree with you.

I never said that Callaway did not have anything to do with the turbo. I just said that they did not make it.
DId they help design the setup? Yes.

what I was going off of was information from my Dealer Principal who knows a load more about Mazda than you or any of your little loser internet "contacts" will ever.

Since you know so much more about Mazda, please teach me.
I am only the #1 sales rep from my city.

So if anyone would like to chat about Proteges who is not an immature little whiny, stubborn F***head whose never had a girlfriend he didnt meet on the internet, please meet me in the West Canada forum. Im done here.

P.S: THE_IMPOTENTMAN:

I think your an idiot in case you couldn't figure that out.
Maybe look it up on an internet dictionary site. I assume you know the web address.

I was talking to the dealer principal at my mazda dealership, which is the number dealership in western canada, which basically means that they sell the most vechicles but doesn't get them any real preferential (sp?) treatment. He basically said that mazda hasn't really told them alot of anything, and that the regional manager of Mazda for Western Canada, Al Harvey will be letting him know what information he has sometime today. It seems that Mazda Canada Exec's and several Mazda dealership managers (including a good friend of mine) are leaving tomorrow for the Dominican Repulic for a 10 day trip paid for by Mazda, so if no information is forth coming today, then I wouldn't expect any new news out of Mazda Canada until they return, which would be around the 25th.

And to KubaSpeed, I am not sure which dealership you work at, but you should really get your information correct. The Canadian cars are all sitting at port, I have seen, takenand posted pictures of them. Production from a mazda point of view is done. There is just the standard finishing work to be completed such as spoilers, exhaust and stereo's, and further more the work is being done by Toyota people, not Calloway people. Toyota owns the Fraser docks where the cars are all shipped and prepped for dealers. There are still around 30 or so sitting in the works yard, which means they are finishing them at a rate of about 15 cars per week, so hopefully they will either pickup the pace or else it will be 2 weeks before they are all done and then another week before they are shipped. I have basically given up on any particular date for them because I am willing to wait.

To everyone else, I enjoy these forums and have found most of the information useful, but you must always keep in mind the source of the information that you are reading about and take most of it with a grain of salt. I still can't beleive that no one from one of the states that already has them, has posted a picture of one at a dealer ship. That would restore my faith.

The only thing that could change my mind from getting a mazdaspeed would be if the Mazda6 shows up first, but from what I have been told the hatchback version is not due in Canada till mid 2003, although the dealers have put in their primary orders for the first batch of Mazda6's already, and the hatchback was not one that was offered.

I feel that my information is fairly accurate, but once again I am getting it from people at the dealership and people who work for or with Mazda Canada, and the bottom line is that Mazda themselves don't really know what is going on.

If they are having a hard time selling them tell them to ship one to my dealer and I will pick it up or better yet tell me which dealership and I fly down and buy it.

Spoke with our regional (Southeastern US) Mazda rep yesterday.

He sez, "Part is in, still on track for delivery beginning week of 11/18." That menas it may come in on the same truck as the 6.

We'll see.

Have no idea how this relates or doesn't relate to Mazda Canada.
