Lots of P5s including yellow!

Hi, all. This is my first post. West Coast Mazda in Port Moody, BC has a TON of P5s. We test drove a yellow one the other night They must have had at least 30 P5s on the lot! And they had FOUR yellow including the one 5 speed we drove. Price was 23,800 for a/c, moonroof and stick including freight. Other colors with same options were 22,800. From what I've seen for the MSRP pricing, they are 300 over and then another 1000 for yellow. For having that many, I think they could deal pretty good on them or would at least expect them too.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you all know. My wife wants one pretty bad. It's a P5 or a Neon R/T (to go with my Dakota R/T) and I liked the handling, utility, price of the P5 better. The Neon had better zip on 3rd gear and up and I'm torn on the looks of both. The P5 is a damn good deal though.

That seems like a rip off-I got mide with s-roof, a/c and 5 speed for 21300+freight (canadian$) No wonder they have so many of them...

Yeah, it's a load of BS that they are asking more just for yellow paint. It's not as if it is a special kind of paint, it's just limited production. Even the salesman kinda thought it was silly. So, with a sticker of 22,800, any dealer can take 9-10% off and make a couple hun over invoice.

If I'm not wrong it's illegal to charge more than MSRP in Canada??

Call Mazda Canada and ask them.

I'm not actually sure if "dealer gouging" is illegal or not. I've seen lots of vehicles asking higher than MSRP. I think it's a total crock but yeah, a call to Mazda is probably smart!

Dealer said the Yellow are LIMITed Edition

But i doubt that
It seems EVERYWHERE are yellow P5

Dealer said not more than 30 in Vancouver
But i am sure there are more than 300 in Vancouver

THEY ARE EVERYWHERE

EVEN the dealer Parking Lot has like 3 or 4 available

that's very regret for me that bought the Blue instead of waiting 2 months more

Akord, yeah I bought my car at West Coast Mazda as well, and that salesman is Vietnamese if you're thinking of the same one.
Yellow is a very nice colour, however too flashy for some, but I like it myself. Might get bored of it after though, while black and silver will always be elegant, depends what you want, but definetely not worth paying anything extra for the colour

I say head over to Edmunds.com and Kelly Blue Book ( www.kbb.com ) and print out the Invoice/MSRP numbers and show it to them. Be sure to mention that a different color has nothing to do with price.

Definately don't pay more for a different color. If it was a performance parts upgrade or something like that, I could understand the price difference. That's the dealer's shifty way to squeeze more unnecessary money out of you.

Hey, it's always nice to see some other locals on a board The older guy your are thinking of is Jimmy Tee. Nice guy for sure. Protege5girl: if they charged you extra on your red paint, you got scammed because as far as I could tell, that paint is not metallic I don't know if all the dealers are charging the extra money for the yellow but if they have one and want to charge extra, that's what color you want, and they won't budge, what are you to do? Do this: or this: heeheehee I really dig the yellow but nope, I wouldn't pay the extra 1000. I'd call Mazda and report them first

I don't have RED

my p5 is silver. If I had chosen a red one, i wouldn't have had to pay this "metallic paint fee" or whatever it is they call it. I will look at the invoice when i get home tonight to see what they called it......

Ahhhh okay. Sounded like from your message it was red. I don't think they charge you an extra metallic paint fee, though. It puzzles me why high-end car makers like BMW charge for this though. It's silly. I haven't seen anything window sticker for a P5 yet that says metallic paint fee on metallic colors.
