It's now how fast you go it's how good you look right.......it's what sells most Vipers , Vettes and Ferarri's. I could do 6 race weekends for what he spent on that stuff.

you have to be joking....(IMO) vette's look like crap but go like stink...I don't think people buy vette's vipers and ferrari's based on their looks. I promis you if you bought a $70K dodge viper and found an FS-DE protege engine under the hood you wouldn't feel very cool.

p.s. If that kind of stuff is what it takes to win car shows I'll be a loser for life.

it just seems that gawdy turned into cool somehow....

I'm a firm believer of "less is more" when it comes to cars.

Well Roddimus you are correct that vette's go like hell - A buddy is an instructor at driving school here in Vegas that uses Z06 vette's and he turn's me on to a test drive now and again - but the majority of owners buy them because they look good in them.....nothin wrong with that.
A few years back we used to do Viper club days as insturctors....guys would come in all pumped up about how fast their cars were until they figured out some of us were going faster in Spec Miatas.....having driven a few 700 HP Vipers it's not hard to see why folks like them.
Ferrari guys.....rarely see them at the track...only at vintage races , not even track days. Of course if I owned a 250K car I probably would be cautious with it as well
With a car like a Protege the joy of ownership is it cuts down on posers....the purge nozzle is a "little" much.

Tom

PS I'm sure somewhere in the world is a guy with a carbon fiber hood on his Yugo!

I know some 'kids' (under 20 yrs of age) spending upwards of 9-10k on stereos and custom interiors for their 4-bangers. To me, if I had 9-10k in my back pocket, all 3 of my 'moddable' cars would have some sort of FI and would be out on the track promptly!!!

Ha ha...too bad you're already married Karen...lol.
You are the perfect woman for the race-minded man....I'm sure your hubby must be thanking his lucky stars...lol.

I guess the same can be said for Natalie (my gf)...she's undersatnding enough to know the ins & outs of this lifestyle....and is even down w/modifications. Not stupid useless wings and tail lights etc.

1. How could you put your car in a show without polishing the a/c lines?

2. Those c/f mirrors blow goats.

3. Why isn't the heat shield painted?

4. Why not spring for an autoexe style grille and the c/f rear bumper valence?

5. Taillights and "spoiler" are teh suck!

Ha ha...well....she knows I do it for me. My parents...I think were my biggest influences though....My Dad big time...my Mom for sure. The only way I really connected w/my Stepdad was because of his knowledge of cars. I mean the man ACTUALLY owned a Fairlady Z. How many ppl can say that....then again...this was in Jamaica 20 or so years ago....then I started working on the Supra w/him...that's when I knew what I wanted to do w/my spare time.

Many people like me doesn't like to mistreat our motors like other. Not all are slaves of its motors. Many people has mounted parts of equal or better quality than the people who like damage their motors. For that reason we invested our money in "slow" cars like this protegé that does 15 seconds in the quarter of mile with that 19" Wheels Racing Hart. That is the difference. And for me you are a loser and you'll continue being a loser all your life.

p.s.
I spend my money in stereos and other high performance parts and stuff. While you are breaking your motors I am in a Auto Show with my music on enjoying the money that I have invested
