Leaking :(

There is a wierd leak under my car. It is just to the left side of my front right tire. It appears to be leaking water, even when my air conditiong is off and has not been used. Any ideas?

On the passenger side? You checked the washer fluid reservoir?

Wrong side! W/W bucket is on the left side...

Get the car hot and keep it running. With the parking brake ON - look underneath and from on top (mind the fan and working bits !) . I suspect the radiator or bottom hose. Possibly the water pump.

Let us know what you see!

Some people determine right/left by sitting in the driver's seat, others by standing in front of the engine bay, so I wasn't sure which side they were referring to...

The A/C turns on automatically when the defrost or floor/defrost are on. Is it possible that you have this on and the A/C is on without your knowing it?

Okay so I checked it out........
It doesn't drip when the car is off....but when the car is running it is a constant drip.
I put a basin under the leak to collect some fluid. It doesn't seem to be radiator fluid or washer fluid because it is colorless and odorless and does not feel slippery to the touch like radiator fluid would.
When I said right side I meant driver's right (underneath the passengers seat)
I thought it may be the defrost so I am going to check it out again.
Any more suggestions??

That sounds like the A/C to me...it's possible it's stuck on somehow, or the defrost or floor/defrost is on. I can't really think of any other way water (colorless, odorless) liquid could drip from the motor otherwise, unless it's water vapor from the exhaust, but it would probably still have some smell. Anyway...keep us posted.

heyyy? i just noticed this on my 2003 P5 the other day too. On my passenger side near my engine compartment. I did some driving uphill, parked and noticed a puddle of clear water when I came back to her. Not too much but enough to panic for a bit. I crawled as far as I cold and all I could see was a lil drip....drip. I jacked it up when I got home and I couldn't find the source anymore. What bothers me is that this isn't an everyday thing!?

My brothers' truck did the same thing, it was just condensation from the A/C compressor dripping down except his ran down the firewall and into the engine compartement.

Could this possibly be a problem...or should I just leave it?
I don't want any problems down the road......will it need warranty work?

If there is a puddle of ANYTHING suspicious underneath my car, I will stick my fingers in it, and smell it. If it smells sweet, looks green (or orange for HOAT long-life coolant), and feels soapy when I rub my fingers together, I know it's coolant. If it is colorless and odorless and does not feel slippery, it's water from the A/C condensor. If it is slightly blue and smells of ammonia or acohol, it's probably windshield washer fluid. If it is brown, syrupy, slick and smells like your lawnmower, it's engine oil. Trust your senses!

To rule out the more serious stuff, constantly monitor the power streering fluid, coolant, engine oil, and transaxle level (if applicable). I guess you could check the A/C system pressure for a leak, but it's more than likely condensation of some sort as they mentioned.

no need in cheaking the a/c for a pressure leak because if it did leak the refigerant(what the pressure comes from)it would be a gas and no be seen.im sure it water and thats normal.no need for warrenty work later
