Question Injen CAI, Purge control valve...

Hey guys,
I was just isntalling my shiny new Injen CAI and ran into a small problem. The purge control valve has 2 hoses attached to it, one of them is pretty long and continues to the opposite side of the engine compartment but the other one is only about a foot long and is just cut off on the end. Is this how its supposed to be? I'm afraid i pulled the hose out of something when i was moving the purge control valve but i cant find anything it could have been attached to down there. What exactly is the PCV? thx in advance

The short hose goes to a fitting on the back side of the throttle body. If you can't find it, turn the car on, rev it up to ~2000 rpm and listen for the "pssshhhh" sound coming from the back of the t/b. Follow the sound to the fitting.

BTW driving the car with the hose disconnected will create a big vacuum leak, causing the engine to idle poorly, run slightly rough, and probably throw a MAF-related code.

[EDIT: FWIW the purge solenoid valve has nothing to do with the PCV system.]

I actually took a second look just now and foudn the fitting - exactly how u described. Thanks so much

I used "PCV" incorrectly i guess. i meant it as an abreviation for purge control valve. no idea those letters stood for a compeltely different system...so much to learn

The car sounds like a beast w/ the CAI. I leave the stereo off just to hear the 4k rpm roar.

Thanks! So, what do you think of the CAI? How does it sound? Any noticeable improvements in acceleration or fuel efficiency? Does it come with a filter or have you had any problems with rain splashing up into it? Does it go down into that
mysterious hole on the right side of the engine bay?

Do you have an aftermarket exhaust? I'm looking at the Racing Beat cat-back system. Are there any other comparable cat-back systems out there? Thanks again.

The Injen is a good CAI, but don't expect phenomenal power gains. It sounds good to me and comes with better highway fuel economy and yes, it comes with a filter. No problems with the rain, I've even had the whole filter soaking wet from it and there were no problems other than less than optimal combustion (more moisture in the air). Yes it goes into the hole, the wheel well area.

I do have the Racing Beat cat-back, a very good system. Quiet unless you are under acceleration, but still a rather quiet system. It won't turn all the heads like a fart can, but it performs well.

I just got my injen CAI done like 2 weeks ago, i would say the power gain is noticeable nothing to great though, best thing about it is the sound.
