ignition coil pack

just curious as to how many people have had an engine light come on, engine stumbles or idles rough coz it seems like its running on 3 cyl.

About a month ago I had this problem and it turns out that my ignition coil is arching. Dealership changed the coil packs, spark plug wires, plugs, and the precats. all under warranty.

never had that problem with my canadian LX

Yes I had the same problem and the dealer replaced my coil pack too. I haven't had a problem since, but I was told that a few were affected. I have a 99 Protege LX-t (1.8L), if you get a chance check out the newer cars, my friend bought an 02 P5 and it has the coil packs literally on the cam cover!
