Hi all,

I put a brand new 2002 LX 5 speed on hold today (Emerald / Beige). Fun car -- and ya can't beat a $2000 rebate! I have until Monday to sleep on it.

One thing I'm wondering about is the tape player. It seems that you remove the head unit and install the cassette deck into the pocket behind the face plate? How hard is the job? Do you have to take the dash apart to get the head unit out? Any online instructions or pix? If it's pretty easy, I'm thinking I'd buy the deck from an online dealer parts dept. and do it myself because the dealer wants big $$$$ to put it in. I don't listen to tapes often, but want the ability . . . without having to spend an arm and a leg.

Anything else I should be thinking about as part of a new Protege purchase, before I ink the deal?

The LX is a nice car and a great value. However, I went to the Auto Show today and sat in both the LX and the ES. The ES felt a bit better (seat wise - I obviously didn't drive it). If you can find a '02 ES 5 speed (they tend to be rare), you might want to take a look since they only cost a little more (if comparably equipped). Just my .02.
