Hey guys, new here about to buy a Proto5

hey there, just wanted to intorduce myself. Name's James, born in UK, moved to the states about 5 years ago. had numerous cars over here, Stang GT, 2000 Civic SI, Eclipse GST spyder. but now i'm getting up there, argggggg 28 years old! i want & need something, stylish, practical & ecomomical. I do a lot of camping, biking, etc so want something i can throw all my stuff in & take off, plus i fell for the looks of the protege5 it looks so damm cool. i know it's prob been said a million times, but the 1st time i say one, (it was Black) i thought it was the IS300 wagon!

Anyway, i have a friend who works at a local Toyota delaership, i told him i wanted a P5, he tried talking me into a matrix, but i said no. (too much $$$$) anyway he call 2 days ago, & say's he has a car for me, a lady traded her car in as she wanted a Rav4. it's a 2002 Protege5, Black, 18k miles, sunfoorf, chrome wheels, 6 disc indash, ABS 5 sp. he traded it for $14,400 (he said they kind'a raped her on the trade!! ) and said he'd sell it to me at an aditional $500, so how does $14,900 sound to you guys?

I test drove it last night & loved it, just thought i'd ask the opions of the expert's, (that would be you guys) any thing about the car, i should know, or look for? any problems?

thanks a million for any info guys.
cheers

With all the options on the car, $14,900 is a pretty good price.

I bought my "dealer demo" with 5,200 miles on it for $14,649, but then it is a base model 5 speed, with none of the options you listed.

18,000 Miles is a whole lot for such a young car though. How does the Mazda warranty work when you buy it from Toyota? What is their miles per/year limit for the drivetrain warranty?

mp5

whatever is left of the mazda warrenty will simply be transfered over to me.
yeah, the previous owner was a sales rep for Phizer, so she drove around a lot.
but i'm not too worried about it, the engine should be good for 200k, if proerlly maintain right?
