Exclamation Help... Aftermarket Gauges!

I have the pod out and disassembled, and I'm trying to put these new white face gauges in. I've already pulled out the fuel and temp gauge needles by accident and I don't feel like risking damaging the speedo or tach.
The directions that came with the new faces say to "slide it over the needles" which just so happens, DOESNT WORK!
That's how the two needles got botched up.
Anyone out there have any idea how to get the needles off the stock faces without pulling them from the pod.
Like if there's a release or clip of some sort to get Just the needle off instead of the whole sha-bang.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Take a look at the pic I've posted (hopefully)... that's as far as it'll go and the cut out on the new face is too small to slide over the stock needle anyways.
Help!!

i ran into the same damn problem. the only thing i could think to do was to use a dremel cutting disc to shorten the non-business end of the needle to let the new gauges slide over it. good luck, and it doesnt look bad with the butt end of the needle shortened.
