Exclamation !!!!!!!!!!!!Help!!!

I did a search and nothing came up so I shall ask. My car gets up to a little under 100 MPH. Is there a way I can make it top out at a higher speed? My stupid 1989 Subaru topped out at 115, do I need to play with the timming or the ECU or what? Thanks
Joe

you are what is referred to as aerodynamically limited...at your elevation and with your tranny that is your max speed. Want to go faster? get more power ! My 1.6L got me to 112 and it just ran out of steam...and this was on a long flat road and i am at sea level

My 1.5L honda topped out about 95-100mph with PLENTY of redline left....it just didn't have the grunt to move the heavy (if you consider 2900lbs heavy) car. My honda had about 115whp also. What does your car put out??

107 hp, 105 lb-ft torque...although they dont seem to have as much drivetrain loss as 2.0L's...mebbe cause of the diff tranny?....1.6L dyno's at like 85hp stock while the 2.0L dyno's at like 95hp...10hp diff on the dyno vs 23hp diff at the crank?? I think maybe mazda overstated crank hp on the 2.0L...a 35 hp loss vs the 20 hp loss on the MSP with the same tranny ?

yeah, I was thinking the 2.0 was overrated in hp, but torque is pretty good.

I typically see 15-20% drivetrain loss....on a 130hp motor it should put out 104-110whp...

On my MSP "stock"... I think it ran something like 162whp and about as much torque....it seemed as though it was underrated, but everyone else was posting much lower numbers.

I think the MSP is underrated. I'm guessing a more realistic number is 180-185hp stock...SPort Compact Car dyno'e them at 150 hp ,150 lb-ft. damn f-series tranny...I think i could easily hang with an ES stock, but my gearing is taller. I haven't dyno'd mine but with intake, exhaust, and couple other performance mods i wont mention i expect to dyno around 95-97 whp. I still get beat by 2.0's though, only way to beat them with my tranny is to out muscle them. He-he or get my MX-6...I love that car, it's a beast.
