Hatchback or StationWagon

Yo Yo YO...
check it...im out drinkin a 40 ounce of beer with the homies in the hood. Then we start talkin about cars. They gang up on me and make fun of my Mp5 claimin its a station wagon. Honestly, i get offended when the protege 5 is called a stationwagon. To me its a sporty Hatchback! Who is feelin me on this one! After i made it clear to my friends that my car was a hatchback, i jump kicked them to the bushes. Who agrees with me?

Its got 4 doors and a hatch. Its a STATIONWAGON. A hatchback only has 2 doors and a hatch. Like the zx3 or the new SI.

Not this again

Maybe we could just call it a SportWagon and all get along.

Sporty Hatchback/Station Wagon all smushed together.

I think the technical difference is the length. Cars labled as station wagons have the same total length as their 4 door sisters. Our beloved Pro5s have a 3 inch shorter rear overhang, making it a hatchback. Witness the difference between the Focus wagon and the ZX5.

Ok Ok Ok Ok

Let me hopefully put this to rest right now. I'm saying its a hatchback. My reason is because If you go to www.kbb.com which is the KELLEY BLUE BOOK for those who dont know its under the HATCHBACK section and not WAGON. So there ya go

The Protege-5 is a hatchback. It's shorter than the sedan, whereas a true wagon would be as long, if not longer than the sedan.

The Focus ZX3 and ZX5 are clearly hatchbacks, the Focus wagon is clearly a wagon.

Further than that, who cares!

I agree with your last sentence.... Who cares!

The car is really cool looking, it handles great, it´s fairly fast, it´s reliable, gives good mileage... call it whatever you want.

for whom the bell tolls ....

Quasi Modo says:
It's a Hunchback.
There, a good compromise = nobody's happy.
Thus, "Hunchback" it is...
Even better, it's an agile hunchback with an attitude, (AND an MP5), spewing 9 mm rounds out of the exhaust at tailgaters and cops

In europe the protege is called 323 and the P5 is called 323 hatchback, in my country the protege is called Allegro and the P5's equivalent is called Allegro hatchback, it's a hatch back.

Derment, does that make the VW Golf or GTi a wagon too?

It's definitely a hatchback to me. I know a few friends that "wouldn't be caught dead in one because it's a station wagon".
